Zenless Zone Zero from the creators of Genshin Impact, miHoYo has been revealed at last! The game looks to be set in a dystopia where a disaster known as the sub-hollow has occurred. The game features an open-world city with cyberpunk anime elements that are straight out of an otaku’s fantasy.
The world of Zenless Zone Zero has unique characters and designs that are vastly different from what miHoYo has done previously. It appears as though they have borrowed many Japanese media-inspired elements for the design of the world as it takes in elements from a downtown Tokyo street such as a robot ramen chef with bamboo joints.
It appears as though there are quite a wide range of characters in the game with many of them featuring casual modern outfits that wouldn’t be too out of place from any cyberpunk game alongside things like nekomimi for some of the characters alongside a bear holding what appears to be a type of bazooka!
There are many characters teased in the trailer however it’ll be likely only a handful will be available for playing similar to the Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail trailer with the rest more seen as future characters for a possible gacha system. Rates are still not known yet at this time or how the game will actually play out ie team-based or individual characters.
What is the plot of Zenless Zone Zero?
The plot appears to be based on the concept of “proxies” whereby different characters operate in a world that’s parallel to the real world. This concept is interesting as it seems as though it could allow players to experience two “different worlds” at the same time, battles would happen in this other world and exploration in the normal world for example. This game is different from Genshin Impact’s fantasy world and is more post-apocalyptic urban science fantasy, set in the city of New Eridu. MiHoYo says this is “the last shelter for urban civilization due to the calamity”. It is likely that this calamity is what caused the split we’re seeing now.
What sort of Gameplay does Zenless Zone Zero have?
Zenless Zone zero has a roguelike gameplay which means that the game will be based on progressing through instanced dungeons and fighting through them for loot or other such things. It is a popular genre among gacha gamers and has a wide following of players. This is different from the open world combat of Genshin Impact and Turn Based combat of Honkai Star Rail.
Is Zenless Zone Zero available on IOS, Android, Playstation and PC?
No news has been given yet on platforms but miHoYo has given spec sheet recommendations geared towards PC and IOS devices. There is no news yet for Android devices but this is likely to be the case for release. Testing appears to be mainly focused on these two platforms for now with other platforms listed under “other”.
Is Zenless Zone Zero good?
With the cyberpunk theme, this game will have it appears as though miHoYo wants to try something more fun and gives vibes similar to Danganronpa with this new game! We at Gacha Gamers anticipate even more from the dev team on this new instalment in their collection!
How do I join Zenless Zone Zero Beta Test?
A ‘Tuning Test’, which is basically the closed beta sign-up has begun and there’s a full FAQ detailing how to register for it at the Zenless Zone Zero site. MiHoYo recommends an Intel i5 or above and at least a GTX970 with 8GB RAM and 10GB minimum free in your game-hole. No date yet for when the registration window will close.
